On The Course August 2nd

Troy mowing part of #10 fairway with Toro's new Ultralight Fairway Mower
We have been in a hot stretch of weather for just over a month but we could get a break this weekend if the forecast holds. They are predicting a high temperature in the upper 70's for Saturday and Sunday and that will be the first time in a long time that we are not in the 80's. We are mowing and rolling greens this morning. Troy will be setting pin locations this morning and looking at possible pin locations for the Women and Senior Club Championship this weekend. We are mowing fairways this morning but will not be mowing the clean up pass around the perimeter. We are skipping this in order to relieve some stress on some of the perimeters of the fairways. We have been working on a couple of the Natural Areas the past couple of days and will continue to get a few more areas cleaned up. Please keep cart traffic out of these areas at all times.

We have been in need of a couple of new fairway mowers and we have had several demonstrations set up to look at the new models. We are looking at several full size mowers that have a 100" cutting width as well as a lightweight mower that has a cut of 82". the full size mowers are slightly more productive but the quality of cut and footprint by the lightweight machines are a benefit to the turf. We had a small hydraulic leak on one of our older fairway units this week which puts an emphasis on replacing some of the older mowers that we have.
