On The Course May 27th, 2015

We are mowing greens this morning and checking pin locations. We have a crew working on bunkers adding sand where needed and pushing sand up to the edges. The course is pretty wet with over an inch of rain in the past 36 hours. We should see some sun and a little wind today to help dry out the course. We will be cart path only this morning. We have covered the new tee on #17 and with some heat coming today we are hopeful to see some seed germinate in 3-4 more days.

Nick Walters Topdressing #1 Fairway
The course received 0.43" of rain in the past 24 hours. We are mowing greens and fairways this morning. The sun should peak out later today for a little while before more storms move in tonight. The course is a little wet but we will remain 90 Degree Rule for the day. Please stay on the cart path as much as possible. Sheldon is out mowing some rough trying to keep it under control. With the rain and some warmer forecasted temperatures we should see a pretty good flush of growth over the next couple of days.

Alfredo mowing #7 Green

We are rolling greens this morning and raking greenside bunkers. We are looking at some spotty showers possible later today and into tomorrow. The weather system is losing some power as it gets closer and could dissipate as it reaches the cities. The crew has taken advantage of the great weather this week and cleaned up a few projects. The drainage area on #7 that we had repaired is sodded and looking very good. The tee projects have been sodded and the tee tops have been seeded. There are a few cart path edges that we have fixed and we have a few more we will do next week.

We have started topdressing some fairways this week and will hope to finish that by the end of next week. The greens are healing nicely from aerification and we will continue to work on some of the this spots. We will be fertilizing the greens next week to help push them a little the next couple of weeks. There are forecasting some warmer night time temperatures and that should help with the growth of the turf.

On The Course May 15th,2015

Great effort by the staff to complete greens aerification.
We have had a busy week so far with Green and Tee aerification. The weather wasn't ideal but the crew was able to get everything done in a timely fashion. We had some on and off showers yesterday and the course received just over 0.5" of rain. We are going to be cart path only this morning and will probably open that up later today.

The greens are a little wet today for mowing but the crew is setting the course up for play this morning and working on some other projects. Kurt and Nick are changing pin locations and setting the range tee up off the turf for the weekend. We will be mowing greens later today or tomorrow morning.

On The Course May12th

The crew working on 16 green yesterday.
The crew did a great job yesterday aerifying the putting surfaces. The weather did not help us out very much but we were able to get all of the greens aerified and cleaned up. We had on and off drizzle most of the day and that slowed the process of topdressing and brushing the sand into the aerification holes.

The crew is back at it this morning working on getting the sand worked into the holes and the greens open for play. We had some rain overnight but the sun just peaked through for a minute and the wind is blowing. It is still very chilly this morning but we are working on getting the greens cleaned up and ready for play. The greens have been aerified and will be a little sandy for the next couple of days. As the sand dries and we are able to roll and brush the greens they will continue to get better each day.

We are mowing fairways and rough today. The rough has really started to flush the past couple of days and the crew is working on keeping the rough mowed. Jose and Moises are working through the bunkers this morning get them raked out after the rain.

On The Course May 8th

Busy day on the course this morning mowing and rolling greens.
We have a busy day on the course today mowing and rolling greens. We are also adding some fertilizer to the greens to get them growing for next weeks aerification. The current forecast doesn't look very good for us on Monday and we might have to adjust our plans. We received about 0.5" of rain yesterday but the course has soaked it up very well and we should see the sun peak through this afternoon. Kurt is finishing up a leak on #8 Tee Complex today.

We have been working on some small areas around the cart path edges that will get some sod next week when we sod the tee surround on #13. Greens aerification is Monday, May 11th. We are going to be using a 1/2" hollow tine. We have been going with a solid tine or very small hollow tine in the spring that past couple of seasons and we have not been able to keep the firmness of the greens going into the late summer. By using a little bigger tine the greens will stay more firm later in the year. The tine we are using is still smaller than the one we typically will use in the fall. We will have sand on the greens early in the week and will be doing our best to get the greens back in shape. The healing process to get back to normal is usually 10-14 days with the weather being the main factor.

The dandelions are popping and we will be out spot spraying areas of the course as the weather allows.

On The Course May 1st, 2015

Great job by Kurt and Alfredo getting the drainage pipe fixed on #7
We are fertilizing greens this morning trying to take advantage of the great warm weekend to start pushing some growth. We are expecting a few spotty showers this morning but it should turn into a great start to the weekend. The staff is working on some detail mowing and #13 tee. Nick and Fernando are plugging some thin spots on the back nine greens this morning.
