On The Course April 30, 2016

Rolling Greens this morning!
We are rolling greens this morning and setting the course for play. Sheldon is mowing the range tee and we will be hitting off the turf today. Kurt Wacker will be setting pin locations today. The course is still very wet from all rain this week and we will remain cart path only. The sun is shining and we are looking at a little wind today which should help dry the course out a little. The morning temperature was 39 so it still feels a little brisk. The weather forecast looks great for this next week with temperatures in the mid 70's by Tuesday.

Next week we will continue to work on the grading around the path at the portico and will move into working on the landscaping around the Comfort Stations and Maintenance Facility. We are seeing some movement on the H2B process and could be seeing the rest of our crew by the end of next week. Once the rest of the crew is set we will get after the details of the course starting with the bunkers. With all the sun forecasted for next week the mowers will be busy.

Morning Set Up! I took this picture in 2014 and it always reminds me of why we get up in the morning and do what we do.

We are mowing tees this morning and working on some shop details. We have received the approval to move into the new building this week and have been working on getting set up. There will be an Open House next week on Thursday, May 5th. We will have a Project and Course Update presentation and will have staff available for questions on different aspects of the golf course maintenance department.

The golf course is still very wet and we will be cart path only. The temperature is only 36 degrees this morning. We will be mowing greens later in the day as they drain off and dry. Rubiel is raking bunkers this morning and Fernando, Brian and Nick are mowing tees. Kurt is checking cups and will be pumping out some low areas on the course. The weather looks to be very pleasant next week and we will be working on the landscaping around the portico and cart path.

On The Course April 12th

Very cold start to the week but we are looking at a nice warm up later in the week. We will be mowing and rolling greens later this week as the weather warms up. The limited staff we have right now is working on cleaning up debris from the golf course. Fernando and Rubiel will be finishing replacing the sod drainage areas on the greens today and tomorrow. The rest of the course accessories will be brought out this week now that we know the weather looks favorable. We are looking forward to the turf to start to grow again and get out mowing and preparing the course for play.

We are getting closer to moving into the new shop and we are still working on getting organized and finishing small projects inside of the old building. Gravel base and asphalt will be in later this week and early next week. The painters will be out to paint the portico and comfort stations this week. We will be working on getting them opened as soon as possible.

We will be finishing replacing sod out of the bunkers as the weather allows

On The Course April 7th

We have mowed greens twice so far this season.
We have had some very unusual weather this spring and have had a small window to get on the course and get some work done. We are going to open today despite the snow falling on the course right now. We should have some warmer temperatures next week.

The crew has been busy getting the course set up and we will be getting all of the course accessories out on the course over the next week. We will not be putting ball washers out until next week due to the below freezing temperatures this weekend. The greens have been mowed and rolled but the recent cold temperatures haven't allowed them to grow much. We have tee markers and flagsticks out so if you want to test the cold and snow the course will open at 11am today.
