On The Course May 26th

The crew is off to a great start this morning mowing and rolling greens. We are also mowing fairways and rough. The course will be busy this morning with the Ladies 18 Hole League and several member matches. We have a 1:30pm Shotgun for Men's Senior City League and Kurt and Nick are setting hole locations for that this morning. We avoided most of the heavy rain last night and should have a good weather day. Yesterday we were able to get some wetting agent and fertilizer sprayed on the greens and that helped pull the rain from yesterday off the surface. We will be working on the landscaping around the cart path on 9 green. We have rescheduled the asphalt lift to be done next Wednesday.

On The Course May 24th

Kurt is training Brian on fertilizing tees
We are mowing greens, tees and fairways this morning. We will be rolling greens later this morning as soon as they dry out a little. We received 0.3 inches of rain last night and the course is still fairly dry. Reynaldo is changing pin locations and Kurt is working with Brian on fertilizing tees with the sprayer. We will be spraying weeds in native areas later today. Nick Walters will be on the Executive Course with the tractor and deep tine machine. He finished the Championship course this week and will start topdressing fairways later this week depending on the weather.

Our asphalt was delayed around the back of the clubhouse because of rain yesterday. The crew will be working on placing the stone on the knee wall around the fire pit today. We are going to try to reschedule the asphalt as soon as possible without interfering with golf.

Great weather this weekend
We are mowing and rolling greens this morning. Nick will be setting pin locations and the rest of the crew will be working on collars, approaches and bunkers. We will be getting the course set up for play and then working on a few detail items this morning. Congratulations to Kurt Wacker on his wedding day! Have a Great Day! Kurt's wedding reception will be at the club this afternoon.

The second lift of asphalt will be installed Monday around the portico. Once the asphalt is in we will finish grading and sodding around the cart path. We are hopeful to have that done next week.

On The Course May 18th

Irrigation has been charged at the clubhouse
It has been a great week of weather to get some work done. The crew has been through all of the bunkers moving sand, edging, weeding and picking rocks. We have a few that are shallow on sand and will be filled later this week. Kurt and Brian fixed a couple broken heads in the flower beds at the clubhouse and they are ready to be planted. Mary Pat will be in today and tomorrow planting the annual beds. We have a little frost this morning so the crew is on stand by working on projects around the shop. Once the frost burns off we will be rolling greens, raking bunkers, filling divots and working on an irrigation leak on #12 fairway. Nick will be out on the deep tine working on fairways 5, 6 and 7. We have a 130pm shotgun Guest Day today!

We are working on bunkers this morning checking sand depths, mowing the surround, edging, weeding and picking rocks. The crew will be working on the bunkers today and tomorrow. Luis and Rubiel are mowing Tees. Fernando is mowing the green and tee surrounds with the 7210 rough mower.

We would like to welcome back out seasonal H2B staff from Mexico. They arrived early Sunday morning and were ready to work on Sunday. We have had a delay in the H2B program this spring due to some changes in the program and some oversight by the Department of Labor and Homeland Security. We have been given some assurances that next season will work a lot smoother than this year. Reynaldo, Alfredo, Luis, Rene, Erik, Gabriel return from last year and Diego and Levy join them for this season. We are happy to have them back and they are very eager to get back to work and we should see some progress on our projects this week.

Our goals for the week are to get the bunkers in shape and work on some of the golf course details that we have been behind on the last month. We will then get into wrapping up some projects around the Clubhouse and Shop areas. Nick will be working on the deep tine machine on fairways for the most of the week and then he will transition into Topdressing Fairways. We have a lot of training to do this week to get some of the new systems in place and get the new staff orientated to the golf course. The crew has hit the ground running yesterday with most of the guys running equipment just like they did last fall.

Bill Ruone has mowed fairways and intermediate rough for us since 2004 with only missing the 2015 season. He came back to us this spring and it has been great to have him back this season. This past weekend Bill has lost his wife of 62 years. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday and several of our staff will be attending. We hoped to have Bill back out mowing fairways soon.

On The Course May 12th

Clear skies and sun shining!
We are mowing greens and fairways today. We will be rolling greens later today after they have dried out. Lots of dew on the turf this morning but the sun is shining and that should start to dry the course out. We still have some standing water in areas. Sheldon is mowing as much rough as he can get and we will be starting to mow some native areas today.

On The Course May 11th

8mm needle tine and a light topdress
We had a rather rushed aerification on Monday with rain in the forecast. The crew was able to get the Championship Greens topdressed, aerified, double rolled and brushed before the rain set in about 1pm. The greens came out great and we have had some rain to help settle the sand. We would expect the greens to roll very well prior to the weekend. We are setting the range tee back on the turf for today and Rubiel is working on spinning bunkers with the Sand Pro. Sheldon and Fernando are working on mowing rough in the areas that are not too wet. We are expecting more rain this afternoon and have a little misty rain this morning. If the greens dry enough this morning we will be rolling early afternoon.

Reynaldo and the rest of the staff are in Monterrey, Mexico today for the Work Visa interviews. They should be on property later this week and we will be up to full staff for the remainder of the season. We will be working hard to get the open projects completed and the bunkers cleaned up. We will start working on a lot of the detail jobs that we have not been able to get done so far this season.

Maintenance Facility is really close to being finished.
We are mowing greens, tees and fairways this morning. Ladies Mini-Shotgun event this morning at 9am. Nick and Brian are setting pin locations and will be hand watering greens later today. The weather forecast is calling for a high temperature of 85 degrees today.  We had a weeping head on #1 fairway last night and we will have it roped off this morning. We will be getting the course ready for play and then working on getting equipment ready for aerification on Monday. Should be a great weekend for golf!

The rough is growing and the New 4700-D has been out all week with the dry weather

On The Course May 3rd

Toni Duerr mowing greens
We are rolling greens and changing pin locations this morning. The fairway mowers our out in full force and Bill is mowing the intermediate rough. We will be off the paths today with golf cars but will have a couple holes designated as cart path only. As the fairways and rough dry out will be continue to pull cart path only signs. We fertilized the greens yesterday in preparation for aerification next week. We will be using a very small tine for this process and expect greens to heal quickly. We will start deep tining fairways also and that will take 5-7 working days.

We are getting closer to getting our H2B status approved. The process has been delayed this year for many reasons but we are expecting approval this week and will see the rest of our staff in the next couple weeks. We are missing a few detail items on the course right now but are able to get the course mowed and set up for play each day. As we get staff on property we will be finishing a lot of the projects we have open right now.

Frosty Start to the week!

We have a little frost this morning but the skies are clear and the sun is bright. We are going to be mowing greens and fertilizing greens this morning. We have aerification coming up next week and need to get the turf growing a little. The crew is working on organizing the shop and getting equipment ready for the day. We will be hauling the remaining fill material to the cart path area of the clubhouse. We have topsoil coming in this week to finish  off the area and are hopeful to have it green before the weekend. The rough is starting to really grow and the grounds is still pretty wet. Sheldon will get around on the rough mower but might end up skipping some areas that are too wet. We sprayed some weeds yesterday around the clubhouse and will get some more sprayed this week.

On The Course May 1st, 2016

The forecast this week looks dry so we are eager to get the grading done around the Clubhouse cart path

We are rolling greens and changing pin locations this morning. Rubiel is working on tee service and cleaning up the golf course. The golf course is still pretty wet in areas but is starting to dry out. We will remain cart path only today. We will be working on some of our grading projects this next week as the ground dries out. We would like to get the area around the clubhouse cart path done this week. We will be spraying dandelions this week and fertilizing greens and tees. It should be a very busy week for us preparing for the Open House and Town Meeting on May 5th.

The trees are leafing out and the turf is going to jump this week with warmer temperatures
