On The Course May16th

Nick Walters working on the deep tine on #1 Fairway

We are working on bunkers this morning checking sand depths, mowing the surround, edging, weeding and picking rocks. The crew will be working on the bunkers today and tomorrow. Luis and Rubiel are mowing Tees. Fernando is mowing the green and tee surrounds with the 7210 rough mower.

We would like to welcome back out seasonal H2B staff from Mexico. They arrived early Sunday morning and were ready to work on Sunday. We have had a delay in the H2B program this spring due to some changes in the program and some oversight by the Department of Labor and Homeland Security. We have been given some assurances that next season will work a lot smoother than this year. Reynaldo, Alfredo, Luis, Rene, Erik, Gabriel return from last year and Diego and Levy join them for this season. We are happy to have them back and they are very eager to get back to work and we should see some progress on our projects this week.

Our goals for the week are to get the bunkers in shape and work on some of the golf course details that we have been behind on the last month. We will then get into wrapping up some projects around the Clubhouse and Shop areas. Nick will be working on the deep tine machine on fairways for the most of the week and then he will transition into Topdressing Fairways. We have a lot of training to do this week to get some of the new systems in place and get the new staff orientated to the golf course. The crew has hit the ground running yesterday with most of the guys running equipment just like they did last fall.

Bill Ruone has mowed fairways and intermediate rough for us since 2004 with only missing the 2015 season. He came back to us this spring and it has been great to have him back this season. This past weekend Bill has lost his wife of 62 years. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday and several of our staff will be attending. We hoped to have Bill back out mowing fairways soon.
