On The Course November 3rd

Bryxton helping Jason with our irrigation blowout.
We have made very good progress on our winter closing procedures. We are going to be covering the Championship Greens starting Monday, November 5th. We have deep tined the Chipping Green and Practice Green #10. These two greens do not have any internal drainage or slit drainage installed in them and therefore need the additional help for surface drainage. The deep tine holes are 3/4" wide and 7" deep. This should give a good avenue for some surface water to get into the root zone.

The irrigation system has been blown out and winterized. The process went really well and we saw no big issues that we will have to deal with next spring. We have a couple of small projects for the pump house buildings late this fall. Fernando has been mowing a couple of the Native areas down with the Weidenmann and we will continue this as the weather allows over the next couple of weeks. We have seen some wildlife activity with several Red Tail Hawks enjoying some hunting over the freshly mowed areas.

Troy and Brandon have gotten most of the greens ready for winter by cutting sod strips out of the water runoff areas and exposing most of the drainage holes on the putting surfaces. They were able to get the Nursery greens covered and all of the mats are staged and ready for Monday. We have a good couple of days next week to the rest of the work on the greens done. The weather looks to get a little warmer for a couple of days before the cold sets in.

Fernando has been mowing some native areas and kicking our a few mice that the Red Tail Hawks have been cleaning up.

The crew has hauled most of the Excelsior Mats out to the course.

We had deep tined the Chipping green and Practice Green #10. Covers have placed on the greens for the winter.
