On The Course August 1st

Brown Patch spot recovering.
We have had a pretty good stretch of hot weather from mid July until today. The turf has seen more stress over the past couple weeks that we have seen in several years. We have had some different turf diseases working throughout the course and have been working hard to keep them in check. We are looking at another couple days of high humidity, high dew points and high temperatures.

Today we are spraying fairways with fertilizer and fungicide. I have heard several complaints on how wet the course has been in the mornings and that we should let the course dry out more. My staff and I are managing the water on the course to keep the turf alive and are using our best judgement on how much to water. Our irrigation cycle is set up in regards to how the current and forecasted weather is going to affect the turf. We are using ET values daily to determine what our moisture loss is plus looking ahead to what the next several day s are going to bring. I believe we are putting enough moisture on the course to get it through the hot days that we are experiencing.

Damaged areas are going to need some extra attention over the next couple of weeks.

We have sodded a couple spots and will be addressing other areas this week.
We are single cutting greens and will be monitoring the soil moisture throughout the day. If you have any questions regarding the golf course please feel free to email or call me at anytime.
