First Snow Melt of the Spring

On The Course This Week

A very nice warm week with some snow melting but colder temperatures moving in for the weekend. We have been working hard all winter getting ready for the upcoming season and have been on the course the last couple of days looking at the conditions of the turf under the quickly disappearing snow cover. We have seen some very good conditions so far with very little frost in the ground and no standing water or ice on our greens. We have seen some porous ice in some fairway spots but not very widespread.

The covers on the greens have provided some protection from the freeze and thaw cycles we have had and are looking good so far. We still have a significant amount of snow on the golf course that will protect some areas from the colder temperatures that are on the way. If we get another warm spell in the coming weeks we could see most of the golf course free of snow. March has typically been one of our snowiest months so we could still get a lot of snow before we are able to get the golf clubs out.
