Busy day on the course this morning mowing and rolling greens. |
We have a busy day on the course today mowing and rolling greens. We are also adding some fertilizer to the greens to get them growing for next weeks aerification. The current forecast doesn't look very good for us on Monday and we might have to adjust our plans. We received about 0.5" of rain yesterday but the course has soaked it up very well and we should see the sun peak through this afternoon. Kurt is finishing up a leak on #8 Tee Complex today.
We have been working on some small areas around the cart path edges that will get some sod next week when we sod the tee surround on #13. Greens aerification is Monday, May 11th. We are going to be using a 1/2" hollow tine. We have been going with a solid tine or very small hollow tine in the spring that past couple of seasons and we have not been able to keep the firmness of the greens going into the late summer. By using a little bigger tine the greens will stay more firm later in the year. The tine we are using is still smaller than the one we typically will use in the fall. We will have sand on the greens early in the week and will be doing our best to get the greens back in shape. The healing process to get back to normal is usually 10-14 days with the weather being the main factor.

The dandelions are popping and we will be out spot spraying areas of the course as the weather allows. |
