On The Course June 30th

We are rolling greens and changing pin locations this morning. Nick and Reynaldo are topdressing fairways on the front nine today. The crew is working on raking bunkers and hand watering spots where the irrigation coverage is not great. The crew sodded the area around the comfort station on #4 and the front of the Maintenance facility. We will be working on the landscaping around the comfort station on #14 next week. The weather has been very good this week to get some work done and we are starting to finish off some landscaping projects. We are keeping the golf course as dry as we can and will be starting to irrigate more unless the rain moves in later today. There is a slight chance of some weather moving into the metro around lunch time but the system isn't supposed to develop much.

Ron Mielke mowing #5 Fairway as the sun peaks over the trees
We are mowing and rolling greens this morning. Reynaldo is setting pin locations and Nick and Kurt are spot watering areas of the course. The fairway and rough mowers and enjoying the great morning. We are going to be working on getting the course for play and then getting the crew a much needed short day. The course is going to be busy today and the weather looks perfect with a chance of showers overnight. We get asked a lot if it is tough to work in the early morning hours. If you were on the course this morning watching the fog burn off and the sun peak over the top of the trees. You would enjoy My Office! The hustle of the crew getting everything mowed and ready for play as well as a number of wildlife sightings (Some good! Some not so good!). Enjoy the day and hope the weather stays like this for at least 3 more months.

Great start to the weekend with a little dew and fog.

Fairway turf looking good
We are rolling greens this morning and setting the course for Junior Golf. We are hosting the University of Minnesota Goal Line Club today. The crew is working on getting some perimeter areas cleaned up and seeded. They are working on the Property Boundary on the west side 2 approach and will be moving on to the area to the west of #11 green. We are slowly getting some of these areas checked off the list. We have a slight chance of some early afternoon showers but the system seems to be breaking up at this point.

Dry cut on fairways Thursday Night

Luis mowing greens on Thursday Evening
We had a great evening mow last night getting the course tuned up for the Invitational. All of the fine turf surfaces were mowed last night. We are mowing and rolling greens this morning and will have the course ready for the 8am Shotgun. The crew started about 345am today to get the course ready for the first round of the Invitational. Sheldon is mowing rough and Bill is cleaning up the intermediate rough. Fairways are being mowed and the crew is starting to work on the Executive Course. We should have some very good weather today.

Congratulations to Jon Jacobs for winning the Proxy Shootout last night. We are planning on mowing greens early this evening before Member play is allowed on the Championship course. We had a couple past Assistant Superintendents join us this morning for Course Set Up. Troy Tschida and Corey Heasley took the morning off from their own courses to come out and help us. It is great to have a couple past Assistants that are now Superintendents volunteer to get up at 3am to help. It is going to be a great day for golf.

Sod around clubhouse is looking great
We are mowing greens and tees this morning. We received almost an inch of rain overnight and the course is pretty wet. We will be cart path only for the day and should see some sun later today. The crew will be finishing up bunker detailing today. Reynaldo and Alfredo have started the stone walkway to the comfort station on #4. They will be finishing it later today after it has a chance to dry out. We will be waiting on the other walk path on 14 until next week. Sheldon is working on pumping some of the standing water on the golf course to help areas dry out faster. Hopefully the sun starts to shine and a little breeze kicks up to help dry the course.

Dreary start to the day!

Stormy start to Invitaional week which hopefully means it won't rain during the event. We are preparing the Executive Course for a MNPGA event this morning and will be working on the Championship Course prior to our outside event. We will be working on some projects this week around the comfort stations and perimeter of the course. We received 0.58" of rain so far this morning and will be expecting a couple of small passing showers later this morning. Sheldon and Fernando are mowing rough this morning. The crew will be working on filling divots on the Range Tee and the Championship Course.

New sod is installed around the clubhouse

We are mowing and rolling greens this morning. We did not receive very much rain overnight and we only have a few wet areas. Please be cautious when driving carts off the path. Nick and Reynaldo are setting pin locations and Bunkers are being raked. It looks like most of the rain has past but we have a chance of spotty showers most of the day today. It will be cooler than normal and be very nice tomorrow.

The fairways are looking better after the fertilizer application last week. We will be topdressing them starting Monday and will hopefully have them done by the weekend. The crew will continue to work on the area around the Maintenance Facility as well as the comfort stations this next week. We are looking forward to wrapping up some of these projects. The power is on in the Comfort station on #4!

The fertilizer applied to the fairways have spruced them up a bit!

Rubiel Dorantes mowing the intermediate rough around greens
We are mowing and rolling greens this morning. Fairways and Rough are also being mowed. Nick and Brian are working on pin locations and Kurt is working with Gabriel on Tee Service. Now that the final grade of asphalt is complete we will be working on the getting turf to grade and cleaned up this week. It will be nice to see some of the projects finally come to a close and get these areas back to normal. The crew will be working some extra hours next week finishing some of the landscape work around the course.

Kurt working with Brian on fertilizing fairways
We are rolling greens and changing pin locations this morning. The crew is out mowing tees, rough and intermediate rough. Kurt, Nick and Brian are working on fertilizing fairways for the first time this season. DMJ Asphalt will be here this morning working on the final lift around the Clubhouse. We will have to redirect some cart traffic for part of the morning but will be able to drive on it later in the day. The pushcarts will be set up in the club lawn for a little while as this work is being completed. It should only take a couple of hours to get the work done and then a little while for the asphalt to set before we can drive on it. We will be working on the finish grade around the clubhouse after the asphalt is complete and hope to have sod installed later this week.

We are working on some grading around the shop area and will start the Comfort Station landscape early next week. The berm on #2 should be seeded this week and that will help with some of mud tracks we are seeing on greens. We will continue to work down #2 and #3 as time allows.
